Sendapallet is a web based carrier system for pallets, and accepts consignments of pallets up to 200cm in height and 1200 kg in weight.
Pallets play a quiet but essential role in the movement of goods across the UK. Acting as stable bases, they allow items to be lifted, stacked, stored, and shipped with far greater ease than loose loading ever could. Their uniform shape also helps warehouses and transport networks plan vehicle space, reduce handling time, and prevent unnecessary damage during travel.
In the UK, pallet sizes follow several common standards, though they vary depending on the type of load, the method of transport, and whether the shipment is staying within the country or travelling abroad. Most pallets are made from timber, but you will also see plastic and metal pallets in industries where hygiene or additional strength is crucial.
Finding pallets isn’t difficult—many can be picked up from local industrial estates, reclaimed from previous deliveries, or purchased through dedicated pallet suppliers who stock everything from refurbished units to heat-treated export-grade platforms. Once sourced, pallets can be used for a huge range of items: boxed goods, automotive parts, bulky retail stock, food and drink, engineered components, and practically anything that needs a secure, forklift-friendly base.

Below is a clear breakdown of the most recognised pallet dimensions within the UK, along with typical uses for each type.
The standard 1200×1000mm pallet is the benchmark size used throughout the UK logistics industry. Its broad surface area and sturdy footprint make it suitable for anything from stacked cartons to machinery parts.
The Euro pallet is widely used throughout mainland Europe and is instantly recognisable by its slimmer width. Many UK businesses utilise this size when exporting or working with European supply chains.
Half pallets bridge the gap between a full-size pallet and very small platforms. They’re ideal for lighter loads or deliveries that simply don’t require a full square metre of floor space.
Quarter pallets are the smallest widely recognised pallet type. Though not suitable for heavy freight, they serve a valuable purpose in retail and promotional environments.
Industrial pallets offer more space than the standard UK size, providing a square surface that works especially well for heavy or awkwardly shaped goods. They are less common but extremely practical when needed.
Not every courier accepts industrial pallets, so it’s worth confirming limitations before arranging a collection.
